Situated in the tranquil village of Huai Sai in Mae Rim, Country Retreat offers private bungalows, locally sourced home cooked food, a salt water pool with poolside bar and is only 21 km from the center of Chiang Mai city's beautiful old town.
Surrounded by Northern Thailand's stunning nature and idyllic rice fields, these bespoke bungalows are designed for privacy and come with air conditioning, TV, spacious balcony with seating and en-suite bathroom with shower.
A little bit of history about Country Retreat, the land was purchased in 2013 as a small rice farm, the resort was designed and built that year by the owners Pete and Ying with careful attention to detail and a team of superb builders. Each bungalow is individual, even the roof heights differ to exaggerate the fall of the land. The resort is set in and surrounded by rice fields, it's at the edge of the beautiful and friendly village of Huai Sai and has stunning mountain views.
During the rice seasons (of which there are two per year) the resort has water flowing though it to feed the paddy fields. This encourages the birds to forage for fish, shrimp, snails and crabs, at night you have the gentle sounds of frogs and crickets. As we farm organically we also have an abundance of fireflies at various times of the year.
Our restaurant offers a complimentary breakfast but we also have a full a' la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Ying is the chef and many of the ingredients (including the rice) are home grown.
We have a natural salt water pool which is great to unwind in and the pool side bar is popular with guests in the evenings.
